Enter the 5th Annual Golden Gods Awards Show

Metallica Golden Gods Awards

Metallica Golden Gods Awards

Now that the frantic rush of Winter NAMM has mellowed out we can all screw our heads back on and look to the forward to upcoming events. Since we’re on the topic of upcoming events Revolver Magazine is holding their 5th annual Golden Gods Award ceremony to celebrate various musicians of all avenues of rock and heavy metal. Hosted by the WWE Chris Jericho who will be joined by legions of rock musicians, record labels, and gear manufacturers to celebrate everything and everyone that has made rock more than a staple in modern music for the past what? Six decades now? Give or take.

And what would a rock award show be without some performances?

Through the evening the celebrations of awards being handed out will be separated by intervals of performances from Five Finger Death Punch, Anthrax, Stone Sour, Dillinger Escape Plan, Halestrom, and the evening’s headline performers Metallica.

The Golden Gods Awards

While a number of the nominees still remain (we’ll get back to that in a moment) two awards have already been determined and announced. The prestigious Golden Gods Award itself will be presented by Sumerian Records to the rock horror icon Rob Zombie. The honorary Ronnie James Dio Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented by Ernie Ball to the legendary Metallica (who have their 3D movie coming out later this year). And lastly the ravishing Riff Lord award will be presented by EMG Pickups to rock / metal pioneer Tony Iommi.

But they’re not the only guitarists to be celebrated. There will be an excess of awards handed out to eleven lucky musicians at the discretion of voters. If you want someone in specific to win you need to swing by the Golden Gods web site and place your vote in some time before April 15th or forever hold your peace.

The actual event will take place on May 2nd in Los Angeles, California. It will be broadcast live on national television via AXS TV as well as through Xbox Live and Facebook. Or you could actually buy tickets and show up.  I’ve heard doing that is pretty cool.  Anyway.  Cast your vote and tell us who all you’re voting for here.  We’d love to hear what you think.
