As a guitar player, I often find it hard to come up with ideas when friends and family ask me what I want for Christmas.
I can only imagine how much harder it is for someone who doesn’t play guitar to come up with something for us!
Here is a little list I had fun putting together from zZounds.
On-Stage XCG4 Tripod Guitar Stand
Why: A guitar stand is kind of a universal thing for guitar players. You need a place to put the guitar when you aren’t using it!
Watch out: If they only have one guitar and they already have a stand for it – although some guitar players with one guitar have stands in different rooms so there is always one around to set it down safely.
Off The Wall Standard Guitar Wall Hanger
Why: Same as the stand above, only cooler and keeps the guitar out of the way when not in use and eliminates the possibility of the stand getting tipped over.
Watch out: Same as above. And parents – you need to put screws in the wall to mount this.
Dunlop Tortex Standard Picks (72-Pack)
Why: Almost every guitar player uses picks. If they do, they can never have too many. They’re like socks. They tend to disappear. But they don’t smell.
Watch out: If they play a style that doesn’t require a pick or they don’t like playing with a pick or use finger-picks.
Behringer TU300 Chromatic Pedal Tuner
Why: Every guitar player needs to stay in tune. This one is cool because it’s in pedal form and can be used while playing, without having to unplug the guitar. When the guitar is in tune, everyone is happy.
Watch out: If they play acoustic guitar and it doesn’t have a line out – they can’t use this.
Power-All PA9B Basic Kit for 5 Pedals
Why: If your guitar player has multiple pedals, this can power and connect all of them without using multiple power plugs.
Watch out: If they don’t use pedals, or already have a pedal board that does this for them.
DiMarzio DD2200 2 Inch Nylon ClipLock Guitar Strap
Why: Every guitar player can use a strap – and this one is a locking/clip style which keeps the guitar more secure, and makes it easier to put on and take off.
Watch out: If they play an acoustic without strap pegs, or only one strap peg. This is mainly for electrics.
Ibanez IS5 Leather Guitar Strap
Why: Another strap. It’s leather.
Watch out: Same as above.
Danelectro N-10 HoneyTone Mini Guitar Amplifier
Why: It’s super cool. Its small, and perfect for practicing. I mean, it’s an amp for under $30. It’s got great reviews too!
Watch out: If they play an acoustic without a line out.
Behringer DC9 Dynamics Compressor Pedal
Why: Most guitar players can find a use for a compressor, if they record or play live shows. Even at home, a compressor can be a useful addition.
Watch out: If they play an acoustic without a line out.
Dunlop System 65 Guitar Maintenance Kit
Why: This will shine up and polish that guitar and make it look as new as it can look!
Watch out: If they beat up on their guitar they might not care how it looks or it might be so far gone that the kit won’t make much of a difference.
Why: It maybe obvious when you hear them play.
Watch out: They might become famous and not be around next year for Christmas 😉
