Swedish melodic death metal titans Amon Amarth will be giving the world what’s good for it come June 25th (June 21st/24th in Europe and 26th in Japan) comes and they release the follow-up to their decidedly successful 2011 album Surtur Rising. In two months their ninth album Deceiver of the Gods will be given a red carpet treatment for its release.

Adding to the buildup is the release of the first single and title track of the album. It’s the current representative we have for an album frontman Johan Hegg has described as the strongest album they’ve made to date, and, with great confidence, expressed that fans will “enjoy this punch-in-the-face-of-a-record.” What self respecting metal head can’t appreciate an album that could be charged with assault just by listening to it?

Here’s the single. See if it knocks your block off.

As I’d mentioned earlier Deceiver of the Gods is getting a red carpet release. As special editions are ever growing in popularity Amon Amarth has spared no expense in giving the fans nine different special edition packages.

The first is a simple 2-disc digipack that includes Deceiver of the Gods, the Under the Influence EP, a 16-page color booklet, and an Under the Influence mini poster in a fliptop keep case for $12.99. The next is a set that includes the same digipack edition along with a Deceiver of the Gods t-shirt for $23.99.

For $17.99 you can get Deceiver of the Gods as a picture vinyl and for $28.99 you can get a t-shirt thrown In with the deal. For $29.99 you can get the 2-disc digipack edition and the vinyls together.

For $99.99 you can get the 2-disc digipack edition along with a 10-in bust of the mischevous Norse god himself – Loki. Bump the price up to $110.99 and you can get the t-shirt with the set, or for $116.99 you can get the digipack, the vinyl and the bust. And for the really invested fans you can dish out $127.99 and get the digipack, vinyl, t-shirt, and the bust.
