ESP Guitars has been building on their ongoing reputation of designing horror themed guitars now with the follow-up to their Tales from the Grave Bela Lugosi guitar released in late 2012. While their Graphic Series has had several additions (more on that in a bit) the model that is leading this oncoming army of the apocalypse is a canvas to one of horror’s greatest assets. Vincent Price.

While limited in numbers the Famous Monsters Vincent Price Custom features a convincingly horrified painting of Price and proclaims “100 years of Menace and Mayhem”. Not to be too nitpicky or anything, but Price would be 102 in May which means they’re including his time as an infant as equally terrifying as his career as an actor had been.

The guitar is built with an alder body and a bolt-on maple neck with a24 fret ebony fretboard decorated with a pendulum that stretches up to the 12th fret and blood drop inlays for the 15th, 17th, 19th, and 24th frets.. The neck uses a thin U contour and runs a 25.5” scale length. Also included is a set of LTD tuners, a string-through-body TOM bridge, and an EMG 81 Active humbucker.

For any potential buyers this guitar costs $899 and can be ordered through local ESP dealers.

The Graphic Series

The Vincent Price Custom isn’t the only guitar to be inducted into the Graphic Series. Take ESP’s new Heavy Metal 1. No, despite ESP’s leading demographic, this is not a tribute to the genre of music. Instead it’s a tribute to the comic and art magazine Heavy Metal and features artwork from their current latest issue with artwork by Simon Bisley.

The Heavy Metal is built with an alder body, maple neck, and an ebony fretboard with a sword inlay stretching out from the 12th fret. Also included are LTD tuners, a TOM bridge, and an EMG 81 humbucker.

Bio-Tech Vampire Guitars

Three Bio-Tech vampire themed guitars are joining the party as well. The first, the Viper, is made from mahogany for the body and neck with an ebony fretboard featuring japanese character inlays. The LTD tuners and TOM bridge are also used along with an EMG 81 at the bridge and an 85 at the neck.

The second is an EC also built out of mahogany for the neck and body with an ebony fretboard along with the LTD tuners and the TOM bridge. The EC uses an EMG 81 in the bridge position and a 60 in the neck position.

Lastly is the new M. This model is built with an alder body and a maple neck and ebony fretboard. LTD tuners and the TOM bridge make their grand return alongside pair of EMG 81 active humbuckers in both the neck and bridge positions.

Bela Lugosi Dracula

What’s a series of horror guitars without mentioning Bela Lugosi who seems to appear more on guitars than he did in movies when he was alive. This model is built with a mahogany body and neck with an ebony fretboard, LTD tuners, a TOM bridge, and a pair of EMG 81 humbuckers.

And since we’re on the topic horror themed guitars our horror guitar image galleries kick ass, so check them out.
