Over 30 Years of Roadrunner Records

Three cheers for Roadrunner Records. One for each decade they’ve been delivering top notch rock and metal to the masses. To celebrate the occasion, Roadrunner is releasing a four-disc best of box set featuring fifty-four songs from all the bands that helped put them on the map.

Roadrunner Records - XXXAs of October 1st, for $39.98 the fold-out paneled box containing these CDs of metallic musical memorabilia will be available for everyone. All four discs will be organized with artists according to the generations of Roadrunner Records.

Disc 1’s “Foundations” highlights the bands that were there from the beginning when the label was in its formative years back in the 80s. Disc 2’s “Horns Up” celebrates the 90s era when the label became a household name in the music industry. Disc 3’s “And Metal For All” covers the music at the turn of the century up through present times. Disc 4’s “Rock for the Ages” covers the bands that have been with the label that aren’t quite as heavy as the majority, but have still contributed every bit as much to giving the label its place in the music industry.

Want to know how to make a 30+ anniversary box set even cooler? Liner notes written by Decibel contributing writer Chris Dick. His notes cover Roadrunner’s complete history with quotes from founder Cees Wessels, A&R’s Monte Conner, artists including King Diamond, Max Cavalera, Matt Heafy, Mikael Akerfeldt, Joey Jordison, and plenty more.
